The Headlines at Omaha Nightlife read, "Brandi Thornton Rocks Bushwackers!!!"
Thanks to all the fans for supporting us out on the road! This weekend was fantastic! I don't know what it is about Nebraska, but ya'll("you all" for the locals)know how to dance! It is such a pleasure to perform at Bushwackers and at the "Legendary" Pla Mor Ballroom.
Thanks so much to Nikki and Debbie for your hospitality and for sharing some laughs with us! It's not often that we get home-cooked meals on the road, but when we do...we welcome them with open arms! Thank you for a great weekend! We look forward to coming back your way soon and hopefully NOT 5 months from now :) However, we will wait until ya'll warm up a bit!
Blessings to all!
Brandi

Post Grand Canyon...I am BEAT!
Let’s just say that the air at this altitude is far too thin for me. This South Georgia girl needs a whole lot more oxygen than what I am getting. The locals say that it takes up to two weeks to adjust to the difference in altitude. All I want is humidity and “THICK air”!
We had a wonderful time at the Grand Canyon and I was blessed to have a great birthday. We took in the sights at the National Park today. The bulk of the day was spent just wandering around the park enjoying the scenery. Just when you thought you had the best picture of the day…you would walk 100 yards and get a whole different view of the canyon. I loved it!
We each took our own little route around the park and enjoyed some downtime before we hit the road to Pinetop, AZ tomorrow. When we all got back together and were headed out of the park in the Yukon, we ran across a few elk. They were mostly female, but one was a pretty big bull elk. I know that my Daddy would have loved seeing it! I’ll tell you if that elk would have been in South Georgia….he would have been good as dead! ☺
I know that I promised pictures of our adventures and even a few videos…but we have just realized that we will have to visit Radio Shack to get a cable that was left behind in Tennessee. We will get that (hopefully) tomorrow and you can join us out here on the road!
Thanks for your continued support and for your thoughts while we are out here. Thank you for my birthday wishes too! I am blessed and I count my blessings everyday!

Getting Our Kicks...
Getting Our Kicks…
I know I am posting this late...but the sentiment is the same. I have to post when I have internet access. I usually write in the car or when we stop and then post. Here is my writing from yesterday, November 1, 2009.
We are on our way to Flagstaff, AZ today! We decided to take Route 66 rather than I-40! Good decision! The terrain is beautiful and we are enjoying the sites along the way. When we see something we want to do or see…we just pull off the road and pile out of the Yukon! ☺ I love this journey so far…
We had a great time at Fire Rock Casino and are excited about getting back this way in 2010! Thanks to all of the guests and staff who made our stay so memorable! There were some great costumes last night as well…to our Alien friend with the dance moves…thanks for keeping us entertained!
5:00PM (Mountain) We just visited the Meteor Crater just outside Flagstaff in Winslow, AZ today. It was very interesting and when you see something like that, you realize just how small you really are. We are enjoying a beautiful sunset as we continue our journey.
We will head to the Grand Canyon tomorrow, November 2nd (for my BIRTHDAY!). I'll post pics of our journey so far after we get back from the Grand Canyon! There is much to see and do!

Happy Halloween
Greetings from Gallup, NM! Not much to report today as we are a little “Yukon-lagged” – the driving version of “jet lagged!” ☺ We are out and about in Gallup looking for whatever we can find but most importantly….a HUMIDIFIER! Good Lord it is dry out here. I can hear my skin cracking as we speak!
We just ate the coolest place! Look it up online and read about it. The world famous El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, NM! From the road it doesn’t look like much, but after entering the door you realize it’s history. Among the names in the guest registry are Ronald Regan, Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, John Wayne….and me! Ha! ☺ The hotel has been part of many movies and Gallup has been the setting for tons of present day films. Hunter and I shared a John Wayne burger…yummy….a burger topped with homemade guacamole! I was in heaven!
After we filled up our “fuel tanks” we headed to find that much needed HUMIDIFIER! Please, for those of you who live in humid climates…don’t take it for granted and I never will again…I promise! You know that scene where someone is crawling across the desert in search water? Well, that is totally what I feel like. I need water…water…water (and baby lotion!).
We are working on the site today some…so please be patient with us! Hope all is well your way! See you at Fire Rock Casino tonight!

On The Road Again...
If you haven’t seen this part of our great nation, you should. Yes...the land is flat and stretches out as far as you can see, but it is oh-so-beautiful! Last night we joked about how you could see the lights of Amarillo “just ahead” in the distance. “Just ahead” turned into almost an hour and forty-five minutes later. With this we learned an important lesson. When you pass an exit with adequate food, fuel, and restrooms, take it! Don’t wait for the next best one...because there won’t be another for 100 miles.
The night sky was so pretty…but didn’t compare to watching the sunrise in the rearview mirror. That sounds like a good country song! I took the first driving shift this morning and was so glad that I did. I got to watch the world wake-up as we drove. I saw the biggest deer I have ever seen in my life alongside the road. No, it was not an elk! The guys said that is what I saw…but I know the difference fellas! Also, we passed a few coyotes that were not successful in crossing I-40. RIP Wylie! I drove until we reach Mountain Standard Time and Hunter took it from there.
The closer we drove to Church Rock, the more beautiful the landscape. If this is what the Grand Canyon is like, I know we are going to love it. I am sure you have heard of the “painted desert” and it certainly lived up to the name. We all enjoyed the terrain as we drove to our destination of Fire Rock Casino.
We arrived at 2:30PM and got the gear set-up and sound checked by 4:00. We get a lot of practice setting up the gear, but I think this was record time for us! Good job guys! We grabbed some food and headed to the hotel to get checked in and ready for the show.
Everyone at Fire Rock was so kind to us! We had a good time playing tonight and look forward to Saturday (Halloween) night and all the fun. I am looking forward to getting some real rest right now, but I know where I am headed tomorrow. I am going to seek out the biggest HUMIDIFIER that I can find. I am not used to such dry weather. Supposedly, it takes two weeks to adjust…but I gotta get relief. Good night you guys and thanks for reading.
